Your bargaining team has spent the last few weeks in numerous meetings with senior management. During this time, we have been able to progress many of our claims, particularly those that concern key Academic matters relating to workloads, job security, and intellectual and academic freedom.
Nevertheless, despite this progress, we still have outstanding claims. The outcomes on Professional claims have been less satisfactory. To this point we have been unable to achieve gains to incremental progression, intellectual freedom, and the important issue of their workloads.
Your bargaining team continues to stress that we cannot achieve a final agreement unless we get significant improvements for all staff, Academic and Professional, in the areas of workloads, work intensification and job security.
Crucially, we have yet to see a wage offer. From our perspective, a known and reasonable pay increase is necessary to positively advance the negotiations. Ultimately to make QUT a better place for all will require that we all demonstrate solidarity and remain united.
