In higher education in 2022, as national priorities, Union members have decided to seek important improvements in job security for continuing and fixed term staff, as well as the conversion of much casual employment to more secure jobs in an effort to stem the rising tide of insecure work. We are seeking improvements that will produce better working lives including the right to disconnect from work on weekends and after hours, stability at work by limiting the number of change processes employees can be subjected, better redeployment rights for professional/general staff, support for transgender employees undertaking gender affirmation and important protections of academic freedom. You can read more about the Union’s claims here.

As always, the Union is also seeking to improve pay and protect and improve superannuation.
