We're taking action for a new deal: here's how...

Last week members kicked off our campaign of industrial action (read about it, see the photos) to convince management to stop the delays and finally resolve our claims for our new EA. Members are now undertaking protected industrial action as follows:

Ongoing Protected Action - happening now!

Members will make statements while working explaining why members of NTEU are taking industrial action. This is a form of protected industrial action (Questions about industrial action? Get answers).
We especially encourage all teaching staff to share this information with their students and sessional teaching teams.
Download templates, slide decks, zoom backgrounds and more to assist you in taking this action from our comms pack (view it here).

Protected Actions - coming soon!

Final Friday 1B3 – Footscray Park Rally and online solidarity action, Friday 24 May
If VU management has not made significant progress to meeting our key claims by Fri 17 May, we are planning the following actions on Friday 24th May:
  • Academic staff: stop work from 9.00am - 11.00am; do not attend Final Friday meetings during this time. Rally at Footscray Park 10.00am.
  • Professional staff: ban of selected VU online systems from 11.00am - 12.00pm. Attend online rally 12.00pm – 12.30pm (during your lunch break).

More details will be circulated next week. Information on the protected industrial action is available here.

Week 2 1B4 - Stop Teaching, Monday 3 - Friday 7 June
If we still can’t get a satisfactory agreement from management we will undertake significant protected industrial action from Monday 3 June to Friday 7 June that will stop the performance of teaching work by NTEU VU members. This will include a 24-hour strike on Wed 5 June for all NTEU members at VU.

**Remember - only union members can take protected industrial action. Join now to participate.**

Union Conversations Training
Do you want to feel more comfortable speaking with colleagues about taking protected industrial action or joining the union? Attend a lunchtime conversation training workshop with our organisers to learn tips and tricks for talking union! To book into a session, please contact the branch at [email protected].

IT’S NOT TOO LATE TO JOIN THE FIGHT!

Become a member by joining the National Tertiary Education Union so you can join members at VU in taking protected industrial action and bans. Industrial action and bans by their nature are aimed to be disruptive and place pressure on management to agree to our fair, reasonable and important claims at the bargaining table.

**Remember - only union members can take protected industrial action**

It's your right to be a union member and union dues are tax deductible. More info about membership here.

For more information about Industrial Action please see the VU NTEU Website here.
