Monash University has confirmed that it will remediate Teaching Fellows for historic and systemic wage theft, amounting to millions of dollars. While the full scale is still unfolding, this union win is likely to see more than $10 million being paid back to hundreds, if not thousands, of current and former staff members.
This outcome stems directly from an NTEU case in the Federal Court. As part of the resolution, and in lieu of a penalty hearing, Monash has also agreed to pay $450,000 to NTEU. Every dollar will be spent protecting and improving the workplace rights of NTEU members.
Why you must join NTEU now
If you were employed as a Teaching Associate between 2016 and 2025 and believe you were underpaid for student consultation, only NTEU can represent you in the remediation process.
Only the union can ensure you receive every single dollar you are owed.
If you are not a member, we strongly urge you to join before remediation begins.
Membership means representation. Representation means full payment.

This outcome was only possible because members stood together.
