We support the teachers

The WA Division of the National Tertiary Education Union passes a motion of solidarity in support of the members of the State School Teachers' Union of WA.

Given that another multi-billion-dollar surplus is expected to be announced in the State’s May budget, we condemn the manner in which the Department of Education has approached bargaining during the Schools General Agreement negotiation process. Problems acknowledged by the Department, including unsustainable workloads and chronic teacher shortages, require an agreement that provides substantially better salaries and working conditions for teachers and principals.

The WA Division of the NTEU stands with the SSTUWA and its decision to take a half-day stoppage on April 23rd to help achieve a better outcome not only for our state teachers but also for students and the Western Australian public.
